European stocks down; low-yielding yen rises (Washington Post)

LONDON (Reuters) - European stocks fell on Tuesday, failing to follow strong Asian performance while the yen rose as investors remained nervous over the health of the U.S. economy after a fallout in U.S. risky mortgages and credit turmoil.
